Now that I have worked on a few assignments I am realizing how hard it is to write. Well I have always had a hard time writing but it been a long time since I have been “forced” to write something. One assignment I have in mind is the Autoethnography. I have done all the prep work that has led to my first draft, but even when I think I am done I can never seem to get the finished product the way I want. I have re-written my paper several times which I know you are supposed to do but I still do not seem happy with what I have done. Maybe I am being too hard on myself, I am not sure.
I had fun doing the Collage but the Autoethnography has been really stressful. I am really anxious to get feed back from my first draft. I would like to know if I am going in the right direction. I have read over the “instructions” several times to make sure I am doing as I should. I have read some of the examples on previous Autoethnography’s but then I get more confused as to if I have done the right thing. I guess in some sense there is no wrong or right when it comes to writing.

I totally agree with the last part of your blog. One reason I don't like to look at examples is because they confuse me on whether I'm typing my paper correctly or not. But then again, sometimes you have to look at at least one example if you have no idea what you are doing.
ReplyDeleteI had the same problem that you did. After i finished my original copy of the autoethnography i still felt that it lacked in pretty much every area. Even though it met all the criteria, it just didn't seem to click. But who knows, like you i always seem to judge my own papers too hard.
ReplyDeleteColleen, do you think it's because you knew the collage was a completion grade only? Are you worried about the grading thing? Are you worried about your abilities being judged by your classmates/instructor?
ReplyDeleteI want to look at the difference between the approaches you took to the collage and the autoethnography. This will help us tackle this anxiety.
